You can set up auto-print so that when a shipment is sent (or at a chosen step), its shipping label is sent to a specific printer. That way you don’t have to manually trigger print for each shipment.

Where to configure auto-print

Auto-print is usually configured in Shipping rules. When you add or edit a shipping rule, look for an option like Auto-Print Labels (or “Automatically print shipping labels when a shipment is sent”). Turn it on and select the printer to use for that rule. [IMAGE: Placeholder – Screenshot of a shipping rule form with Auto-Print Labels toggle and printer dropdown.]
You need at least one printer added and approved under Printers before you can select it for auto-print. See Adding and managing printers.

How it works

  • When a shipment matches the shipping rule and is sent (e.g. you confirm handover to the carrier or the system marks it sent), Zippendo sends the label to the chosen printer.
  • The print job appears in Printers → [that printer] → Jobs. If the job fails (e.g. printer offline), you can retry from there or print the label manually from the shipment.
Use a dedicated label printer for auto-print so labels don’t mix with other documents. Ensure the printer is on and has labels when you send shipments.

Multiple rules and printers

You can have different shipping rules for different carriers, products, or conditions. Each rule can have its own auto-print setting and printer. For example, domestic orders might auto-print to “Printer 1” and international to “Printer 2” if you use different printers for different label types.

If auto-print doesn’t run

  • Check the rule – Ensure Auto-Print Labels is on and a printer is selected.
  • Check the printer – Printer must be Active (approved). See Printer authorization.
  • Check the shipment – The shipment must match the rule and be in a “sent” or equivalent state that triggers auto-print. Rules may depend on carrier, product, or other conditions.
For more on rules, see Shipping rules.
